How I would change my Porsche 911 922 Carrera if I could re-order it

Was I too conservative

When I created and ordered my Porsche 992 911 Carrera using the website configurator I chose the car as close to the entry level spec as I could. After owning the car for 6 months and living with the car I think if I had a second chance I would add some features and change the look.

As I chose to go with barely any cost extras mainly because I just didn't feel that they would add to the car I didn't take some of the smaller cost addons. When building you car on the configurator you can find yourself getting carried away and the options cost suddenly spirals out of control!

Things I wish I maybe included

When you are choosing options on any car it is easy to overlook how often you may use them while looking at the cost to add them on. With other German manufacturers they mass produce models of certain specifications to push people towards that model. You can order a new car from scratch, but it is likely somewhere there is a car already built close to what you want at a fixed price you want to pay.

Porsche on the other hand builds all cars to order and the turn around for all cars is at least 6 weeks or in my experience 10 due to import and delivery slow down in the UK. So unless a dealer happy to have a cancelled order or are willing to part with a demonstration model they have ordered themselves you need to jump in the queue and get a car built.

When designing the car I missed off dimming interior and exterior mirrors along with the privacy glass. These are two things I wish I had added. The dimming mirrors would make a big difference to the ease of driving the car in the winter nights.
I drove my 718 Cayman through the winter without those extras on the car. Larger 4x4 headlights will shine directly into your eyeline due to the right height. That rear privacy glass would likely help with that issue but also give you so window cover if you want to leave items on the rear seats.

I also didn't upgrade to the sports front and rear bumper which moves the rear number plate higher. I think it makes the rear look better and it is something I think would include if I had a second chance choosing the car.

As nice as the car is, I think that other sports bumper design gives the car a sportier look. I think if I was to order the car again or change it in the future I would tick that upgrade.

If I were to choose wheels again I would likely go with the bigger 20/21 wheels and it isn't just for the design aspect. When washing the car it is very difficult to actually clean the inner part of the front wheels on the 19 inch style. The brakes are so large it's a very tight space to get in and clean. The larger 5 spoke design I would opt for I think look great but would be much easier to clean!

If money (& maybe other peoples opinion) wasn't an issue

When it comes to the exterior I think if I had the option again I would have chosen the Miami Blue paint finish. It is a very exciting colour but I just felt maybe it was a safer choice to go with the Black. When it comes to driving the car every day I find the black makes it stand out less. When you go with a louder colour in an area you wouldn't usually see it then the car stands out much more. I tend to find those who know what the car is will recognise it immediately when you drive past. If you don't like that sort of attention I would avoid the brighter colours.

However maybe when you are buying a car of this value maybe you should just order the car you really want within the price you want to pay. That was more or less what I decided to do but the inner child really wanted something with a little more WOW factor!
