What came on the car & what limited items I added
For those who are looking to buy a Porsche 911 or are just interested in the every day features of the car I put together a short video highlighting a couple of key points and features.
Every car is ordered in it's own way with a different specification. A lot of people tend to order what other say they should add to the car rather than what they think they want. "RESALE" value has always been something that used to crop up when dealers were selling you a car. You best get this feature otherwise when you come to trade the car in it won't be worth as much on the market....
Well I will be honest and say I had no pressure tactics when purchasing this car at the main dealer and there was just suggestion at to what I should add. Simply, all that was asked was "What would you like?"
Porsche cars are a very individual thing as all cars are ordered not pre-made waiting for a buyer. This also maintains the shallow devaluation against other cars as they are harder to come by and you can't usually just walk in and get a new one that day.
Wheels
So I went with a very entry level specification (if you can call it that) which came with full leather standard and the smaller 19/20 inch staggered wheels. The wheels are one thing I wish I had jumped up in price scale with though. If you watched the video you will hear that really it is more to do with ease of cleaning rather than the look. However I really do like those larger 5 spoke design wheels.
Front air intakes
One thing to bare in mind and think about is the front air intakes. The flaps do shut at 43.5mph for aero reasons but until then they are very widely open! Check in the video and you will see the amount of dead bugs already in there on the metal fins. You can buy aftermarket grill mesh inserts for this area and I am strongly considering buying them. On my previous 718 Cayman I had the same issue but the plastic slats are fixed! So I could see bent fins and stones wedged when cleaning. I can't imagine I want to know the cost for fixing if anything heavy flies through there.
Starting the car
Remember although the engine has a keyless start with a turn button, you do need the key inside the car to start it. As you will see in the video I "gently placed" the key on the floor outside and tried to start the car and it won't happen. The key was just outside the door so it is a very good system.
Rear spoiler
The spoiler deploys at 56mph and you can see in the video there that it can be done manually with the car settings button on the PCM. When putting it down the button needs to be held where putting it up is just one touch.
Walking around the car I find it hard to see an angle that I do not like. If I were to reorder the car I would likely opt to upgrade maybe the wheels and add a couple of useful extras but not much that would change the visuals too much.
If you would like to see the walk round video covering the points above you can view that here https://youtu.be/ejUHc6ma51g
