5 Things you may go looking for on a Porsche 992

What to look for and where you might find them

As I have been using my Porsche 992 Carrera as a daily driver now I have come across a handful of things you might need to know about. Although the car comes with the user guide and some videos built in, it can be hard work. The 992 has the latest PCM system on it and a lot of things have moved to it digitally. Help with tucked away buttons and drop down menus for things you may want to find every time you are in the car.

There are a handful of things you may want to know straight away that are not obvious until you go and try to find them. So here is a brief list of what they are and where they are located

The alloy wheel locking socket

You will never get the wheels off without it as one of each of the 5 bolts has a locking version. The socket is located in the front trunk and is tucked away on the right hand side behind the removeable plastic cover.

The 12v power socket

It is a throw back to smoking in cars and pop up cigarette lighters but the 12v socket is still there as a power point for items that can still be run off one. It is located in the passenger footwell behind a marked spring back cover in the centre side of the footwell.

The start / stop button

The 992 now hides the start/stop button inside the PCM most easily found under the car menu section. It is automatically set to be on when the car starts up but can be turned off. You can also set it to be a button on your PCM home screen for multi app access.

The Ipod / USB source change

If you like to listen to your Ipod or music stored on an external device in the car you need to select it as a source over the DAB radio. The change for this can be found once the item is either plugged in or blutooth connected. It is located inside the media tab and is available at the top of the screen drop down menu which will start preselected with the DAB.

The door lock

In the event you are locked out of the car as the battery in your key remote has stopped working you can still get in buy using the door lock. To do this you need to remove the key from the slot on your remote and lift the drivers side door handle to get access.
