Financing my Porsche 992 Carrera 2

I didn't intend to go and order a 992 Carrera 2

When I traded in my Porsche 718 Cayman I didn't immediately order the 992 Carrera. My original plan was to take my money back from the 718 as it was my deposit to move house.

I had cleared the finance on my 718 to get the car finance off my credit history in order to give myself a better chance at getting a mortgage approval. For those not familiar with applying for a mortgage, you always have a better chance when your credit is good and you're earning much more than your outgoing monthly payments.

When that plan changed I ended up in a BMW 1 series as I still needed a car to run around in but I didn't want so much money trapped in a car. After a few months, I was no longer moving and I had the itch to get back into a Porsche. I had never wanted to sell it, it just seemed financially sensible at the time. So as soon as the standard Carrera 2 992 was available to order new I jumped at putting a deposit down in October 2019.

Falling into financial checks as bad as applying for a mortgage

It would seem buying a car at this price point is the same as buying a house when it comes to financial checking. So I ended up putting down more than I really wanted to do when I actually had to commit to a finance package. They allow you to order a car with a deposit but finance isn't done until the car is due to arrive! If you can't buy the car btw you end up loosing your deposit as they will end up with a car they need to sell in your spec!

I got the deal done and I managed to agree a finance package that suited the finance company and was sustainable for me on a monthly basis.
